Larka, wandering her way through the trees, realized how teaching her pups the ways of the Ravilin had consumed her. with her strong son Lorkan by her side, her ever watchful guardian, she tilted her crania to the sheltered heavans and let loose a howl that could not be mistaken.
Come to me, those who remain, your ceaseless wanderings are to end now. If you still call yourself a Ravilin, you will heed my message.
Find me.

Across the sky the clouds drifted lazily, easily covering the distance of the round world and yet seeming to stand still in time, mocking those below. As though a shadow of her namesake, the white wolf crossed the open meadows to the east of the forests where the Ravilins roamed. Her stance was easy-going, loping, moving across the ground at a quick rate.
She heard, then, in the distance, a call from a wolf within the woodlands. Pausing to prick her ears, Cloud considered her options. She could remain a loner for some time yet, but she felt the desire to join with others of her kind again. Why not now? She tilted back her head and allowed her muzzle to form a perfect "o", responding. I am a loner near your boarders, would you have me?

<center> <img src=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v691/moonisland/LarkaFinished.jpg> <font color=1E90FF>[/img] Auds swiveled atop her crania, expecting the begrudging call of Carrick, or her missing mate Faris. but no. it was the sound of a lone female near her borders. With her pack in shatters after wandering seperate for almost a year, she could not afford to turn a healthy sounding wolf away. Moving closer to her own borders she let out a short howl, announcing that the loner could enter to be assessed worthy of joining the forest clan. She would wait until she laid eyes upon the wolf before speaking.

Cloud nodded to herself, understanding the alpha's response. I come. She turned from the meadows that had kept her company for the moon that she had wandered the island and entered into the depths and shadows of the woods. There was no distinct trail that she found where she entered, but the undergrowth was no hinderance to her long-legged frame. She sail across fallen trees, and what she couldn't jump she simply swerved around, disappearing with a flick of her ivory tail.
She traveled for several miles, keeping an easy but alert pace, before she finally caught sight of the alpha of the forest. It was a female, pale white much like herself, and although she stood alone, Cloud thought that the alpha had a look of power about her. Perhaps she was a fighter. Cloud, herself, typically wasn't.
Hello, she said softly, coming to a halt a respectful distance away. I am called Cloud, she said, smiling and lowering her frame toward the ground in submission. I would follow you, if you would take me.

Larka allowed a soft smile to grace her features as she saw the female approach, so alike to herself in appearance, except sweet blue eyes replaced striking gold.
Nodding to the wolf's words and pose Larka held her crania and plume high and proud as she spoke with the gentle authority of a mother Alpha.
You are welcome here, dear Cloud. My name is Larka, I am the Alpha of the mighty forests known as the Ravilin, though my packmates wander lost amongst the branches, those who are loyal shall return.
A slight glimpse of saddness showed in her bright golden orbs, but it quickly vanished, for with new pack-mates came new life. She stepped forward, rubbing firmly against the new wolf, mixing their scents with those of the trees into what could only be known as the Ravilin.
A soft woof was heard as a tall lanky young male sauntered boldly over to stand by his Alpha, his fine features bearing close resemblance to those of his mother. soft tones were his speech as his serious cerulean orbs assessed this new wolf.
My name is Lorkan. I am one of the sons of Larka. If she has welcomed you then I shall welcome and protect you.
A soft wave of his plume was given as he too, moved to nuzzle Cloud to further bond her to them.

Cloud gave her new leader a wolven grin and stood, shaking herself free of debris. I thank you, Larka, for your kindness. The female's tassel wavered happily as another, Lorkan by calling, approached and introduced himself. Thank you, too, Lorkan. With thanks given all around, the pretty white she-wolf began to study her new pack mates.
She saw, even though she realized it was not necessarily meant to be seen, the brief spark of sadness in the pale leader's eyes, and she wondered what had caused it. Cloud wasn't one to pry, though, and so decided to let it be. Questioningly her eyes turned upon the younger male, almost two years or so she would guess younger than herself. Do you have any siblings, Lorkan? she asked.

(im just going to keep posting the original link till i can get it to work, beause you seem to be able to fix it )
Larka reclined upon her haunches, content to be among the cool shade and breezes watching her son and Cloud converse. Where is everyone? Are we really so distant and lost that not a single pack-mate came to my call? Larka's golden orbs shifted to study the ground between her paws as her mind contemplated the situation.
Lorkan answered the question in his matter-of-fact way. Technically I have a younger brother and a younger sister. They and my mother's mate Faris have been gone for over a year. I know not if they still walk this earth, for their scent has all but vanished. The only ones that I can still catch a scent of are an elder named Carrick and a young friend of his named zena.
The young wolf sighed heavily and shook his head before continuing. Do not go wandering amongst the trees alone for too long. It seems that this forest leads wolves astray if they seperate, for so many have vanished from my mother's ranks. Do not worry though, I said I would protect you, so you will not vanish amongst the trees.
Closing his mouth, the young wolf awaited her response, hoping that he had not deterred her, but felt the statement was justified. After all, no one had answered his mother's call.
There was no ravilin Pack.
They would have to build another one.

The pale wolf smiled encouragingly towards the younger male, especially touched by his own personal 'protect you from the forest' words. Perhaps it was true that this strange, beautiful, and certainly old forest took wolves from the clan... but she would not be one of them. The fem issued a grumbling reply. I shall watch with caution where I tread from now on, Lorkan.
Her eyes turned toward Larka, inspecting once again the alpha female. She wondered whether or not the other two that Lorkan had mentioned would show - and what would happen to them if they didn't. Would the alpha chase them form her territory? Surely not, but... Cloud didn't know the entire situation.

The young wolf turned momentarily to nudge his mother, a soft loving whimper escaping his muzzle from time to time, encouraging her to think of what IS and not what once was. His deep cerulean orbs brightened as she looked up at him, a shadowed smile briefly gracing her features.
We are young and strong, we will persevere through the old magic that is the pack hunting song.
Without waiting, he lifted his crania to the heavens, a strong lilting song erupted from him calling to unseen forces so that they might be victorious in this late summer hunt.
Larka threw her elegant crania back and harmonized with her son, her tones deeper and sweeter at the same time. Hers was a song that asked for forgiveness, for hope and life. If wolves could cry, this is how they would do it. For embodied within the intricate tones of Larka's howl was so much sadness and unrequited love that it threatened to break the hearts of all who took the time to listen.
Rising to her paws, elegance and hidden strength embodied the Alpha as she motioned for Cloud to join them. however small their numbers were, they were still a pack.
Lorkan held his stoic calm, but was enthralled to see his mother something other than lost within her thoughts. An excited bark emitted from within him, urging the two females deeper into the pack lands, to where game and wilderness were in plentiful supply.
Come mother, Cloud, let us run and be united under the banner of the hunt!

[glow=teal,2,300] Zena[/glow] Zena heard the call of a hunt song, and her ears went forward. She'd not hunted with another wolf in many, many moons. The last contact she'd had, had been Salix. The female's ears went back in worry. She doubted the old fem still breathed the air of the forest. She hoped she was happy in her final resting place, however. Reunited with her old pack. Deciding it would be no good to just keep following silently, Zena lift her creme muzzled toward the tree tops. Wait...We...I come to join you. She glanced behind her, but could not see Carrick. She knew he'd follow though. He told her he would. Still, out of respect, she did not speak for her older pack mate. I wish to join your hunting party, if you'll still have me Larka. She slowed her run and lowered her voice. A low howl was given, for Carrick's ears only. You are coming, are you not, my friend? She knew he'd hear, and either show up, or answer. She returned to her steady pace, headed after the small group. A new female scent greeted her nose. A new clan mate, she figured. At least it was off to a good start. She hoped the wolves ahead of her would stop to accept her. If they did not, she knew not what she'd do.

Cloud added her own notes to the song, higher pitched, a soprano. Their voices together were beautiful, wild and romantic as they echoed through the trees. Her tassel flagged high and she yipped encouragingly toward the younger pack member, Lorkan. I follow! It hadn't been too terribly long since she had last hunter with another, but it was under different circumstances, and Larka and Lorkan's techniques would be new to her.
So she sprang forward, following the two forest wolves, and inhaled deeply the scent of the woodlands. In the distance she heard another call, answering their pack's hunt song, but she didn't pay it attention. It was Larka's place to respond, not her's, however delighted she would have been to greet another wolf.

Larka let loose another howl, this one full of elation.
You are always welcome in my home, Zena, but you must promise to not wander off for months on end!
Pausing momentarily to let the younger female catch up with them, Larka scented the air around her. it was faint, but there was a reindeer herd far to the north. they had come down over the summer months to bask in the warmth and eat the plentiful undergrowth. intrigued, for she had only hunted them once, Larka shifted her attention to her favorite direction, quickly smiting a pang of loss that welled up within her.
The last time she had hunted reindeer had been with Carrick.

[glow=teal,2,300] Zena[/glow] Zena was happy at Larka's call. She ran forward and came to the three quickly. She looked over Lorkan, Larka's son she guessed. She couldn't remember if she'd met him before. The third was another pale wolf. Zena's golden orbs lit in amusement as she wondered over how the Ravilin got so many like pelted wolves. She shook her own creme pelt, and dipped her head to the three. Thank you, Larka. I plan to stick around more this time. I promise. Her voice held a smile. I am Zena. She introduced herself to the other two, smiling. Thank you for allowing me to join your hunt.

Larka smiled gently and nuzzled Zena, reaffirming their bond after so many months. Collecting her thoughts, she addressed the group before her, her spirits rising as her pack's population rose.
I don't suppose you have seen Soul or any of the others have you? Are you all that remains of my former pack? Where is dear Faris? so much has changed...
But i digress. There is a herd of reindeer to the north, I think there is no better way to join together as a family than with a challenging hunt.
Her golden orbs bright for the first time in many months, Larka set a pleasant pace, content to see what the others thought of her hunting plan.
Lorkan brushed up against Zena and realized the same thought that she had, for their little group was entirely snow colored.
How very interesting... he mused before matching the pace of his mother, an encouraging woof heard every so often as they advanced deeper into the woodlands.

Cloud paused her stride only long enough to see what was happening, as Larka greeted another pale-coated wolf. The fem released a soft whimper, saying hello, but took up to pacing around them while they spoke quietly. The thrill of the hunt was already in her, and she leapt, half twisting around, in her excitement to face the others again. Lead us, Larka.
When the alpha fell back into line and the others began to follow, Cloud took up a place near Zena. She nudged the other female's shoulder with her nose, smiling. I am Cloud. She wouldn't say more, lest her words brought unwanted attention toward them, but perhaps later they might talk.
