Kira made her way back into the Atyka, on a mission to try and keep what few ties she had. Cresting a soft hill she placed the large hunk of meat upon the ground so that she could tilt her crania upwards in a loud sweet song, calling for Lana and for Thaddeus.
Are you still here my siblings? So many are lost...I bring the gift of food and companionship...

Thaddeus was ambling through the meadows closer to where the Kameskais marked their borders, but he paused when he heard a familiar call. He hadn't heard his sister's voice in several seasons, almost since she had come to visit him before with Lana and they had discussed making a loner pack.
The young male changed direction and picked up his pace. He was still lanky, but now that he was growing into his prime he had thickened out. He was a handsome wolf, with only the scar on his muzzle marring his looks. He approached Kira from upwind, letting her taste his wild scent before he came too close.
He paused some distance off, letting her be the one to finish the approach. Kira, my sister, how are you? he grumbled, with his tassel wavering slowly behind him. How is Larka?

Bright cerulean orbs lit with happiness at the sight of her sibling.
So all is not lost after all.
Taking the hunk of meat up within her powerful jaws, kira closed the distance with a flowing gait, placing the food gently at his feet before nuzzling him lightly, unsure as to how he would respond to the contact.
Dearest brother, I am doing well, although the packs numbers have dwindled to nearly nothing...and mother is injured. She was crushed by a wiley old reindeer cow in a hunt gone a wry. How have you been out in this wild lone expanse?
Her bright white coat shimmered in the early morning sunlight, already beginning to thicken for the approaching cold. The two, though direct siblings, looked so opposite it was rather striking.
They were like a yin-yang, although perfect harmony would have to be proven first. After all, they were rather distant, as all the Ravilin wolves seemed to be.

Thaddeus wavered his tail at Kira's gift of meat, for he hadn't hunted well in the past days because of a sore paw pad. Thank you for your gift. His khaki colored eyes darkened as she spoke, first mentioning the dwindling numbers in the forest and then that their mother had been hurt. While Thad had never been particularly close to Larka, especially since her new mate had practically chased him away from the borders the last time he had checked on her, but he was concerned for her.
Is she alright? he asked, fearing the worst. Yet surely if Kira was traveling away from her she couldn't be in too bad of shape. He shook his head, negating to answer her last question until she answered his.

Kira sighed deeply and picked at the meat, distracting herself before she answered him.
I believe she will be alright physically, although when I left she was unable to walk. I left because the tension and saddness looming within the wolves there is threatening to break my heart. Her mate Fairs abnadonded her, she has one pup left, a young serious wolf named Lorkan. Whatever rift still lies between Carrick and Larka is what seems to be at the heart of the decaying pack structure.
So I came to find you to make sure you will still alive, still here, because so many have vanished it is unsettling.
Do you know of the kameskai? Are they seeing the same lean times or is the Ravilin forever doomed on its own?
Kira's orbs were earnest, she wanted to help get her mother's pack back into shape, but the tension was suffocating her.

Thaddeus looked saddened by the news of the Ravilin, but he shook his head before lowing it to nibble at the meat. The Kameskai are gathering, finding their numbers, remarking their borders. That is all I know, for they won't take trespassers lightly. The dark wolf continued to eat, pulling away at the meat as he considered the condition of the forest clan.
I don't know what happened between our mother and the old wolf, but maybe you're right. Who knows? They do, but if they won't do anything to fix it, then we certainly can't either. Thad's eyes glinted as a terrible thought crossed his mind. Except kill the old one, that would make things easier for Larka. But she could never know what we would have done.
He glanced away, half horrified and ashamed at the thought, half curious of its origins. That wasn't like his normal attitude. He wondered whether being a loner would twist him, like Thatcher, the brute who had scarred him as a cub. The forest isn't doomed, Kira, it's just... in a mire.

Kira sighed and plopped heavily down upon her haunches as she listened to her brother.
They are both so hopelessly stubborn, its sad. I have seen mother attempt to heal this rift several time, or even just try to talk to him civily but he refuses and she gives up for the next season or so.
I know in my heart the forest is not doomed, things just seem so troubled, and i am frustrated because i know not what to do without sounding harsh and turning them against me.
Kira had caught the glimpse of something dark in his eyes but did not pry, for she felt it was up to him to open up, after all, she didnt want to overwhelm him with questions and conversations, he had been alone out here all this time, with no one to talk to.

Thaddeus continued to eat as she spoke, but his mind was taking in all the information she was giving him. Once he finished his meal, he licked his lips and stepped closer to his littermate. The black wolf sidled up to her and sat beside her, with his coat barely brushing against her's. Things will work out, they always do. He wasn't as concerned as she was... but then, the Ravilin wasn't really his place anymore.
What you should do is this, then, Kira. Find others out there, loners if there are any, and take them back to the forest. Build up a new clan, but make sure those loners keep their loyalty to you, as well as your mother. He glanced sideways at her, realizing how strategic and... calculating he had become. That way no matter what happens, they belong to you, too.
The dark wolf sighed and lowered his head, thinking. Well, perhaps Kira will become the glue that holds the forest wolves together one day. There certainly is something bad about the dynamics there now.

Kira rose to her feet and sighed, heeding his advice.
I agree, i only wish you would return, you ARE mother's son, after all, and there are so few of us.
Her pretty blue orbs were somber as she looked at him.
If you won't come, I will find you again. You are not alone in this world.
Setting a steady pace she trekked towards the other loner land that she knew about-the lake of Yorian.

The black wolf returned his sister's somber look, but his eyes were not as weary as hers were. I know I am not alone. He briefly thought of his father, Nuri. Yet I will always come when you call, if I am able. Thaddeus didn't speak aloud as she turned and trotted away, for he already knew where his heart was set.
He was a loner, a wolf not used to social interaction... and he preferred it that way. The black brute stood, shook his pelt, and then turned in the other direction from Kira and began, once again, to walk.
