How time had slipped through these archaic trees of old, stealing from them time, and words that would never be spoken for they were stolen away by the night and lifted up in offering to the stars. And it was those stars that had cradled them into a stark silence, for a state of hibernation had seemed to have swallowed the whole of the island, carrying them off into sweet dreams and hushed lullabies. The alpha, pallid white and soft of eye, had seemed uncomfortable as of late, with the absence of his mate and an obvious loneliness that had replaced her. Surulian perceived the smallest signs of this, for Atka covered them well, sweeping up the tracks that his solemness created. And what of the raven wolf who had seemed so detached across the seasons, only to find a small bit of light in the opportunity of a comrade which was harbored within the newly accepted wolfess he had escorted from the borders. His other friends seemed to be dispersed about the territory, and he knew not were Cloud or Lorkan had wandered off to. And so restlessness had set in, for though he often would like to think that he was a creature of solitude, he truly was not. And so he set out to find the friendly creature who had accompanied him from the border, in hopes of learning more of her, and perhaps more deeply engraving a friendship between them. Their persona’s seemed to mesh well, and he found her company pleasant, and so he woofed softly for her, as he loped slowly through the trees. Hoping that perhaps she too might be in search of some company.

It had all seemed to fall upon Haokah when the pack disbursed, she had spoken her words to the pack leader but he gave her no response back and nor did the pack. The answer seemed still to the wind as the rest of the pack just watched silently before disappearing into the trees, one by one their colors, names and who they are all filtering away. Haokah felt like this was her own doing perhaps, she had gotten partially accepted into the pack and than was awaiting her final approval so that she could finally have a home or at least feel comfortable in this one when it all fell apart, was this Haokah’s doing? Perhaps she isn’t meant yet to join a pack, that perhaps this sense of hope she had was false. Another part of Haokah told her that no matter what she couldn’t just leave here, she had started something and unless the answer is no than she couldn’t bring herself to leave. She had looked upon Surulian before she took had taken off; even his comfort wasn’t enough to bury the feeling of guilt she had. The gathering had seemed so peaceful and happy; she had ruined that for the pack. So she too had left the scene and escaped upon the path that Surulian had shown her back to where she had come, an ivory ghost slipping between shadow and light and over leaf and rock to find where she had first arrived. Here she could have some peace with her mind away from anyone she knew, even a little. Her heart had been hit by this like it was a tragedy and she could only bring herself to think that it couldn’t have been her fault even though that’s what it appeared to be.
It wasn’t until several days later that Haokah came back to Ravalin Forest. She had left the borderlands and went away for while, to think and to eat. She had to get away and see if things were different when she came back. This time she didn’t look for the leader or for pack members. She came back to find Surulian, he might have some answers for her. There was a reason Surulian and Haokah had crossed paths and perhaps this was part of it. There was perhaps some sort of push and pull, give and take to their meeting, something that could become much more mutual in time like a bonding that fuses to what it combined with. She moved slowly through the darkened morning expanse of timberland, she had not waited for anyone to greet her or give her a final acceptance. She has simply entered back upon the territory lands. Hopefully this wasn’t the wrong decision but the land was so empty, if the alpha was around he could hide his presence far better than Haokah could any day. She didn’t come with pride or eagerness, she came just silently crossing the border, making a ripple on its strings that would fade if none crossed the same area to pick up her scent. She thought also that even if the alpha saw her would he push her out of his home or finish the acceptance.
She pushed her nose to the heavens and did catch Surulians faint smell on the winds but it was strong than that of any other, like he was one of the few still remaining. Haokahs eyes of deepened mossy green flicked across her vision from tree to tree, trying to sense movement. Trying to see if he was close even though his scent told her that he had already passed and if that were the case or not Haokah pressed forward following the scent until it finally grew stronger and she knew she was near. Finally she heard something, at first it made her flinch because she hadn’t heard any sounds of the pack but she knew it was him. Haokah lifted he head high upon its base and searched for his dark form before she saw him crossing over a log in the distance. Her legs seemed to pull her before her mind could think about moving, her heart seemed to guide this time. A soft vocal caressed her tongue before lulling out into the air in the form a low short and soft woof in his direction. Her paws soft and quite upon the earth as legs pumped out a lengthy stride that crossed the terrain with comfortable ease. It wasn’t long before Haokah reached Surulian’s side, her eyes shown brighter than they had in some time to see Surulian. She couldn’t really consider him a friend but he was all she knew in these lands. Her tail tossed back and forth at a medium pace. She had missed him admittedly these past few days because she felt comfortable around him surprisingly. That just doesn’t happen a lot. ”Hello Surulian.” Her words were soft and low, directed to him and him only. ”I hope I am not bothering you. I just… well, could use some company right now.” A smile began to peak at the side of her mouth. Eyes fixed onto his, taking in his expression again and watching his to know his reaction.

“Bother me? Of course not, that couldn’t possibly happen… in fact, I was looking for you…” It was strange really; the games the shadows could play upon the soul. How the lonesome wind could send chills through your very aura, bringing light to just how very empty the cavern of your being was. And what was Surulian truly? Hadn’t he always been an empty cavern, always searching to be filled? Even in Reykjavik he had searched relentlessly for something, anything, to sooth the restlessness that ebbed from him. Silver Mist had only made the sensation worst, Torn had quelled the demon within for a time, but like the wind, she had blew away into forever and what remained was Surulian, always Surulian, alone, and heartbroken. He had, he thought, come to terms with his past now, in this present world, but still the emotions rooted so very deep inside of him, boiled to the surface without his conscious request.
It was not as though he could claim to love her, or need her, or dwindle upon her absence in heartache… how could he? Truthfully, they had only just met. And yet he had shared a piece of himself and in doing so, lowered the walls that had built for so very long. And perhaps it was that he wished her to come in, to touch his true self, to know the true him. For he had not let any so close in so very long. Perhaps he needed that. Needed the kinship of at least a friend who could look at him and know what played behind his eyes. And in turn, he wished to know someone, to take part in their soul and feel what it was to be alive. So he had sought her out yes, he had wished for her company yet again, and yet when he found her, there was uncertainty written all over her face, and hanging like stars in her eyes. She seemed distant and aloof, maybe even a little afraid yet mayhap that was not the right word, or was it? Things had become so mangled upon her arriving, but it had not been her fault. No not in the least. It was the female Alpha Larka and her sudden disappearance that had caused the travesty leading to Atka’s straying of attention. And who wouldn’t be shaken by such things… it was in fact, a piece of his own heart that had gone astray. He felt for the pallid alpha, and knew what strings it was pulling his heart into sorrow. “Haokah ... I wished for your company as well...I had hoped, that you had not decided to leave.”
