Jaden resisted the urge to snort at Beryl's obvious statement. Some wolves could be so rude. What had the femme assumed? That he was going to ask her right in front of them if she didn't leave? He couldn't imagine what had gotten into her. He didn't know her very well, however. Perhaps she often stormed off casting discomforting glances at others. The way she had glances at Aisha... almost a warning. As he had guessed, she took little heed of it, prattling on sociably, as usual. What bothered him more was the glance that had been cast toward him. Had she thought that he would have crossed his plans for Aisha out to go padding after her? Had she hoped that? His stomach knotted uncomfortably. Had he hoped that? Nonsense. He had thought no such thing, of course. It was just the season... he'd be back to his sane self soon enough. He couldn't- he wouldn't let the sideways glances of a femme distract him from his goals.
Now, he thought ruefully to himself, if only this Raelik could be the same kind of rude as Beryl. He was a churlish brute, even more so than Beryl, but could he not be so elsewhere as she had? Jaden didn't know what Raelik meant by his statement concerning being a loner, but he assumed he came from somewhere were all wolves had no tact. Aside from simply being impolite, did the scarred male not also feel the pull of the season? Shouldn't the fellow be padding after some pretty young thing, instead of getting a guided tour from a femme whom nearly already had a mate? Jaden thought so. This male was an odd one, in his mind. I apologize for my assumption, Raelik. Although the calmly spoken words seemed to be a response to Raelik's spoken words, it was also the most courteous response Jaden could come up with for Raelik's silent statement. The fewer words one said to his type, the better. Jaden gently tipped his head before returning to the matter of Aisha's tour.
Raelik, it seemed, would obviously be coming with Aisha and himself. Anywhere easy for a new packmember to become lost would be paramount He snickered in his mind, a mild expression in his gaze. It all sounds very lovely, Aisha, he said with a thoughtful smile, this statement too, bearing a more subtle meaning. What is your favorite feature of these lands?
