C A C I Q U E Oh how valiantly beautiful the season of spring was (sorry can't find a current season anywhere so I just picked one x.x), kind and generous to the lands, allowing birth and growth to nurture and sustain. It is here and now that the generations begin their cycles, perpetually lapsing on into future years. It emerged slow at first, allowing the pallet of hues to brighten and blossom into a cornucopia of varieties to dazzle the waiting eye. And then it would seem like overnight, after the passing of the first dynamic thunderstorm of the season whose lightning enriches the electricity throughout the soil, it's power reaching forth through the very fibers of plant's roots and leaves veins, causing an avalanche of green to emerge by morning's first light. Buds soon emerge, leafy petals peal away to offer up a newborn bud soon to flourish in the light of day. The winds are different now, brisk yet gentle, soothing as it wraps around us the fragrances of the flora. Winters thick sheets of ice have melted, causing the rivers and streams to swell with sweet spring water, and with it come the vigorous fish which populate even the shallowest of pools. Spring... it is the season of life, and it is in this season of change that Cacique thrives, for he is a child of love and life, born of the springtime sun rays.
Oh how gently the sun caresses the silver sinews that nearly shimmer across the lithe physique of the lupine dancer who seemed to dance across the pebbles of flaked limestone that traverses the pathway along the bank of the cerulean pools just beyond his prancing pads. He is silent in his lonesome dance, for he seemed to hardly touch the fragmented gravel below, there is a gayness to his step, a frill and thrill to his movements, as if born of the Fae. Yet there was no wings here to carry him unto the clouds, oh but what an adventure that would be. Grounded for now, our silent one has stilled, caught in a trance like stance he seems startled, lightly peering from side to side and ducking to one side then the next. He is but a shy creature, perhaps childlike in his purity. His neck is strained now, arching forward as his nose seems to work greedily upon the gale. A scent has been detected, one hinting upon the presence of a pack boundary just around the bottleneck curve of the creek. He is unsure, and argues over his choice of proceeding forward or advancing back to way he had come, but curiosity urges him forward, whether for better or worse, he knows not. Yet again he stills mid step, a singular paw suspended midair as he watches, but his posture is of a friendly nature, and his inquisitiveness only urges him a few more steps. Lightly his silvery plume twitches from side to side, and a gentle whine is echoed forth before lowering himself to the ground submissively. A pack... a home... perhaps this day he would find purpose.

The lonely mountains seemed more and more lonely to the aging alpha, but he continued to roam throughout the valleys and ridges, always looking for his clan mates. It had been several seasons since he had last laid eyes on some of the more... shy members. Even his cubs seemed to have grown and wandered away, either to establish their own clan or to make the best of life in another pack's territory. Either way, it left Cassiel feeling slightly more vulnerable than he wished. He remembered the days when he traveled as a loner, free from worry and responsibility.
Yet that was many, many seasons ago, and he had learned to curb his appetites for traveling. The brute was wandering nearer his borders than usual, and because of this he came across the scent of a loner hovering in the near region. Who's there? he called, curious. He didn't recognize the other's scent, and he was too tired to go chasing after rabbits if they didn't bring any prey.

Luma
A silver fem lift her head from the stream she'd been drinking from. Her ears went forward in interest. Could it be? ...Cassiel? Luma listened to the call floating on the mountain air. She'd not seen much of anyone for a long time. Last she'd seen of anyone, was the first hunt she had lead. She was a proud the proud beta of the Kameskai, saddened by the distance of her pack. Cassiel's calls always lifted her heart, however.
Her banner went up, and waved. Without another thought, she tore into a run. Her pillars did not carry her as fast as when she was younger, but she was not too old yet. She still moved swiftly. She followed the sound of the call, then her Alpha's scent, closer to the border. She could smell another wolf outside the border, but was not concerned with them yet. She'd missed her clan, her family.
She caught sight of Cassiel walking in the distance ahead of her, and slowed. Cassiel! How good to see you, my friend! She happily called, stopping to raise her voice in greeting. That said, she resumed her trot impatient to reach her old friend.

Cassiel turned about to see Luma approaching, and a large wolven smile crossed his ivory face. Luma, my faithful friend! He paused mid step to wait for her to approach, and as he did he reached out to touch his snout to her forehead. It is good to see you, he rumbled.
A moment later his ears pricked, a howl was coming from deeper into the territory. His dark brown eyes sought out across the bleak landscape, curious. See to the borders here, my beta. He trusted her instincts... if there was a wolf nearby that wasn't a Kameskai wolf, he could trust Luma to accept them into the clan or reject them as she chose. I'll see to this other that calls...
The pale brute turned and padded back down the ridge, heading away from the markers toward the voice that had called out a greetings.

C A C I Q U E There it was… hearken upon the gale like a pixie in elegant draperies in the fashion of old, a scent… no two scents, yet they were as one. Both dignified and righteous as they bore down upon the atmosphere. Wolves. And their blood was of this land, the very fibers of their being whispered of it. Alas they were of the pack which the delicate Cacique had scented only moments before. Anxiety and excitement crept upon his veins as adrenaline would, stretching out into every inch of his ashen bodice and floods into his longing eyes. How could a prospect such as this not cause such a vibrant reaction? Had he not longed for this day? Hadn’t every pup from the moment he was born, dreamt of someday belonging to something of importance? It had nothing to do with prestige of course… perhaps it was that deeply rooted essence of brotherhood that was as natural to a wolf as it was to breathe. And born out of the same need, fueled by nature and instinctual reaction, he began to lower himself into a completely submissive posture to await his judging.

Luma had returned Cassiel's nudge. She wagged her tail, then her attention was snatched by the call of a loner. Cassiel asked her to check the borders, and she accepted. She could pick up the slight scent of an unidentified wolf. She watched her Alpha head off to the call, and then began her run to the borders. She grew close and caught site of a wolf.
I am Luma. She stopped her run and called to the loner, catching his attention, if she did not already have it. She knew he was a male now. She looked over his stance. He seemed friendly, submissive at the least. She resumed her walk forward. Her back was prickled slightly, enough to show threat but not aggression. I am the beta of the Kameskai clan. Who are you and what business have you here?
She grew as close as she dared, without first hearing him speak. If he seemed nice enough, she would go closer. Otherwise, she would fight to protect her clan's home, and all within it.

C A C I Q U E Cacique was whimsical and playful by nature and his age only served to help support this ambiance of angelic nature. He could not stop his ruffled plume of silver sinews from beating rapidly upon the earth in anticipation. It bore loudly against the firm, moist sod, gouging out a small ravine in the clusters of emerald tuffs that grew there. The sun gently kissed the slope of his head and the backs of those swiveling ears that were a bit small for the overall proportion of his skull and slipped gaily down the brackets of his spine hidden below a thick hide of grizzled chrome. His eyes shown to be dancing in place, as if they found hidden in the invisible atmosphere the pagan circles of old where friends joined hand in hand to sing in merry circles of love and joy.
And then the ground shook, rattling his senses back to reality. Of course his world had not truly been shaken, for only mere vibrations had traversed the ground to signal the approach of another. And carried upon the gale as if linked in timing, was the tell tale scent of a seasoned pack member, of the female variety he was sure. She was particular though, Cacique noted, in the way she carried herself and the knowing within those stern, defensive oids that watched him warily. A member of importance, that could be assured. Someone set high in the ranking order of wolves here. Immediately his tail had ceased twitching and retreated between his hind limbs and his previous relaxed posture flattened further to the ground as if his wings had been clipped and his feathers were no more.
I... I … am simply Cacique. No more no less… I come only to find a home.

Luma
Taking note of his relaxed posture, she felt the tension in her muscles that reappeared with every loner's call, fade. When he answered, she listened to more then just his words. He was in a submissive pose, and his voice rang through with honesty. She walked forward, her hackles beginning to fall.
Cacique... She said to herself, feeling the name on her tongue. She reached his side, and glanced over him. He looked to be about three or four, and she saw that his pelt, like hers was silver. His coat, however, was much more pure then hers. Almost a white. She found it beautiful, and wished her own had been more of his color.
Cacique, She repeated, this time speaking to him. By joining the Kameskai you become a protector of our lands, and your pack mates. We run together as one, and fights among members are to be avoided as much as possible. Will you promise yourself to the Kameskai? To keep peace, protect and help it flourish as best you can?
Her yellow orbs spoke of such devotion as she looked to the younger brute. She smiled at him. She found the greatest of joys in protecting and caring for the lands, and the pack. She hoped if Cacique accepted, he would soon find this joy too.

Artist: entaie.deviantart.com/ Luma waited for Cacique to answer, when she heard the call of Cassiel. Her head and eyes turned to the sound. She looked once to Cacique. She kept turning her head to watch the distance, wishing to reunite with her pack. She finally glanced to Cacique, for she had spent as much time as she felt she could. If you wish to be in our clan, follow me now. If you want to wait, you'll have to call again from the borders. You'll recieve no different treatment as long as your want to join still remains true. By no means am I giving you permission to just walk these lands. Either follow me, or wait. She didn't like Cacique's lenghty pause. Perhaps he didn't really want to join. She gave him a look, searching his face to see if he understood. Turning her silver body, she ran toward her leader's howl. She would not stand and wait forever for a male who would not speak.

(Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm putting Cacique up on the shelf for now. I lost the muse I was trying to create for him but I'll likely bring him back at a later date when I figure out where I want to go with him character wise. I am however going to bring Feria to the pack instead and try and get her accepted )
