Thaddeus's paws brought him to the end of his freedom, placing himself squarely up against the border of the Kameskai Mountain Clan. He had traveled for most of the day, and already it was growing dark again. The previous evening the brute, the loner, had felt a strange pull, a draw that brought him out of his solitude, looking for others of his kind. He had shunned the idea of the Ravilins immediately... but the Kameskais, well, they were yet to be explored.
The black wolf's coat was dusty from his travels, but he didn't bother to clean himself off. He knew his scent was being carried into clan territory, and he could vaguely hear in the far distance the excited bleat of caribou, running. They were hunting? Good, then perhaps they would be in a good mood when they came looking for him, all teeth and glares and hostile growls to the newcomer. Or at least that had been his experience at the forest.
He shifted his weight from foot to foot for several moments before deciding to sit. His tall, lanky body lowered his haunches to the ground, but his head remained up and proud, ready to meet any challenges... except that of the alpha. He wondered what his father would think of him now, readying himself to submit to another. Nuri would never have done such a thing. Neither would old Shepo or the others who had come before him, learners and story-tellers of the island. Thad was special in that sense. The wise-wolf, the knower of the history of the island, was ready to learn more history through the Kameskais, of whom he knew little.
And so he sat quietly, waiting patiently for the wolves to come. He would sit there until the sun fell and rose again, but he wouldn't move - much anyway. His khaki colored eyes searched into the territory ahead of his body, seeking information and knowledge before he even set paw on the sacred land. It was his way, he just hoped it wouldn't be perceived as a threat.

The black she-wolf was running full speed toward the lands of her blood, paws flying out as she took galloping strides to cover the most ground as efficiently and quickly as possible. She barely registered the fact that another black wolf was sitting like a statue, a moment later she realized he was waiting at the border, before her lanky young frame shot past him. She barreled into the Kameskai lands, muzzle lifted scenting the air in hopes of reaching the hunting pack in time. Her scent was all that was left to the newcomer, but Beryl didn't care. She was home, and he wasn't threatening her father and mother's lands. As far as she was concerned, he could sit there until the clan was ready to deal with him.

Thaddeus felt the hairs on his neck prickle before he realized what had alerted his sixth sense, so to speak. He glanced behind him just as a black blur came into sight, panting and running like an insane beast toward him. He stood up abruptly and growled, but as he bared his fangs the slender black wolf, for that's what she was, the stranger was already past him and into the pack's territory. Thaddeus shook his head, bewildered. His eyes, widened with surprise, followed her form, growing smaller and smaller in the distance. He stood, gazing after her, wondering what in the world he was getting himself into.

Artist: entaie.deviantart.com/ Luma nodded to Cass, feeling worried for her beloved Alpha. She turned, touching her snout to his shoulder. Her silver form dissapeared over the land quickly, running to the waiting loner. She herself thought nothing of Cass telling her to tend to the loner, she knew she could handle it and she saw no reason for her not to go. She ran quickly, silver pillars eating up the ground. She slowed as the borders and the brute came into veiw. Her fur puffed slightly, soemthing she couldn't control. Having an unclaimed wolf so clsoe to her lands made her on edge. Her yellow orbs took in hsi appearence and she raised her banner to correct rank. I am Luma, the beta of the Kameskai. What business have you here in our lands? She watched the dark wolf, awaiting an answer.

Thaddeus was instantly impressed with Luma as she came into sight, the ideal picture of loyal beta defending her land. There was hostility in her glance, but it was nothing like old Faris's dislike. Perhaps it was this that made him more certain than he had been before. He would join them, if they would have him.
The black wolf stood and lowered his head, turning his neck to the side to expose himself in the traditional, instinctual manner. His tassel came low, pressing against his haunches, and his ears turned back against his head in submission, telling the female everything she needed to know through body language before he ever spoke a word.
When he did speak, his voice was soft, gentle - a story-teller's voice. My name is Thad. I come seeking a place to live. My loyalty is not easily broken, he rumbled, turning his bright eyes away from the beta's gaze. His orbs instead searched the ground near his feet. He felt terribly foolish, doing this, but after all it was the experience of the pack wolf... just one he'd never had to participate in before.
Thaddeus wondered if the older female would have any way of recognizing him. The Ravilins and the Kameskains knew each other existed, but they had never really crossed with each other. His scent had not long been a part of the forest pack's, and so he hoped that his connections to Larka would remain unknown. He certainly wasn't volunteering any information, and by giving his short-name instead of his full name... well, that was added precaution. To his knowledge, they would know only that he was a loner that needed a clan and have no information about his heritage otherwise.

Artist: entaie.deviantart.com/ Luma looked the dark wolf over. She let his name roll off her tongue, tasting it and devoting it to memory as she had with every loner she'd accepted into the Clan. Thad... She felt her fur slowly begin to fall, as she walked forward. The hard gaze she'd had at first vanished faster then anything else, for it was hard to not be happy about a new member. She now stood in front of him, waiting for his gaze to land on her. Welcome, then Thad. Welcome to the Kameskai. She brushed shoulders with him, sharing scents. A smile lit up her face and orbs as she welcomed the new member. She gestured with her head to the feast and the clan. We've just finished a hunt. They've brought down a Caribou bull. I'm sure there will be enough for you to take your fill. A lovely welcome, don't you think? She smiled. Come, I will lead you to our Alpha: Cassiel. She turned, starting at a trot first, then running again to reach the others. She felt her heart soaring. The Kameskai was looking evermore promising. If only Epitaph were here...we could use more Alpha pups this year. She noticed the chill of winter in the air, and took a deep breath. Mating Season never failed to make her feel like a yearling again, despite the fact that she'd not had anyone to run with in years. She knew soon she'd have the satisfying crunch of snow underfoot, and she could run and dance. At the very least, the snow would be her partner for...she could think of...almost...no one she'd be willing to make that dance with. Almost...no one. She felt her heart skip a beat as a figure flashed in front of her minds eye. She gulped down a mouthful of air quickly feeling somewhat... ashamed of herself. For a split second she had imagined herself and Cassiel racing through the snow together, dancing, zigzagging, their paw tracks creating a beautiful weave on the blanketed ground. She stopped herself, her heart pounding in her chest at these thoughts. She needed to think. Perhaps she would ask Cassiel if it would be okay for her to take some alone time. She could smell the pack growing closer, and hoped Thad had kept up. (We'll just scoot over to the Kameskai thread now. Lol. Would you like me to make another Luma post, or you just have Cass greet him?)

Ok, I'll post Thad, then I'll post the others in a new thread instead of the hunt thread.
