She danced around him, her long limbs and fleet paws making an intricate pattern in the snow around him as she deliberately cadenced her stride to create a weaving chain of delicate paw prints.
She raced away from him after several complete circles, not giving him the chance to capture her. Away she raced, off into the trees, unconsciously following the little stream that had seemed to bring them together on that clear night...or perhaps it was the will of the stars. Whatever it was, she was glad for it, and she would not waste it doubting herself and questioning what had been given to her.

I’m the warrior of life, I know the reaper by name. Rhys blinked at the fae danced around him; he'd never seen anybody do such silly things before. He could do nothing but watch, stupefied. When she was finished and darted off, he was reminded of his purpose and his words.
He lunged over the ring of prints, leaving the place where he felt most comfortable behind. Rhys was unsure of the game Kira was playing with him, but he was content to play it. The light tried to catch her, but he watched as it failed several times, only managing a brief swipe at her glorious fur.
The urge to ask where it was they were going poked at him, but at the same time he didn't want to know. He let the mystery shroud the situation, but not so much that he lost sight of Larka's daughter. To lose this interesting creature he had just found would trouble his soul greatly, and would force him to go back to his lonely spot by the stream to suffer in agony. Kira wound her way sinuously through the trees, crossing and recrossing the little stream as if it were a silvery thread-and she its needle. Following the stream she marveled at its audacity, cutting through the snow and ice that sought to quell it where it stood. Dodging so that she was out of sight for a fraction of an instant she ducked low against a bush and blended in with the snow, waiting for the right time to spring and catch him in a playful ambush.
She didn't realize it yet but they were getting closer and closer to their border that led into the atyka meadows.

I’m the warrior of life, I know the reaper by name. Rhys was appalled as he realized Kira had disappeared. He stopped slowly, being sure not to slide around unevenly in the snow. He'd stopped by Kira's bush, looking ahead, sure that she had lost him in the snow. He couldn't scent for her because her scent was everywhere. His eyes went to look for his stream for guidance when they found the fae behind the bush. Orbs widened, surprised and frozen. My blood's running cold; I see pain wherever I go…

Kira cursed under her breath and sprang away from him, her playful ambush plot ruined by his observational skills. Her racing through the trees had startled a rather large rabbit out from its hiding place.
Think you are up for the challenge?
Her icy blue gaze kept her attention on the rabbit, and she instinctively dodged and wove after it through the trees that she knew so well.

I’m the warrior of life, I know the reaper by name. As soon as he saw her, she was off again after the little animal. He chuckled, wondering where she got such spaciness from. Challenge? What challenge? He wondered aloud. He hadn't meant to sound sarcastic, but he honestly had no idea what challenge she could be talking of. Instead, he trailed after her form yet again, more interested in her than in the hare itself. My blood's running cold; I see pain wherever I go…

Kira laughed at his words, realizing that perhaps she was being too cryptic.
Are you lonely enough to chase me? To catch me and prove that you are swift enough to be my mate?
She knew that mating season was over-but she wasn't getting any younger...no one was. Swerving sharply away from the rabbit, she headed towards the Atyka, her long limbs devouring the ground, that instinctual drive to escape her pursuer driving her forward.

I’m the warrior of life, I know the reaper by name. Kira's silent words shocked him. Was that where this was going? To that area of his life he had left dead, barren, unexplored? In the end, he would have time to decide until next year. His paws kept themselves trained on the trail of Kira. He saw that she was leaving the packlands, but he held little fear of the Atyka now.
Perhaps, Kira... Perhaps I am... My blood's running cold; I see pain wherever I go…
